These symptoms could point to repetitive motion injury

Whether you work in an office in Van Nuys or on a construction site, you could be engaging in an activity that leads to a repetitive motion injury. For example, if you type on a computer continuously throughout the day, you could develop carpel tunnel due to the stress on your wrists. If you are constantly lifting objects off the ground or climbing in and out of machinery, you could develop a knee injury.

Fortunately, you might be able to file a workers' compensation claim if you suffer from a repetitive use injury due to your work duties. If you experience any of the following symptoms, you might have a repetitive motion injury that requires medical attention.

Tendinitis

Tendinitis usually occurs when a tendon becomes inflamed. Usually, the site of the injury is where you will feel the pain. The area will probably be sore, red and even warm to the touch. Continuing to move the tendon will only cause the injury to become worse.

If you have tendinitis in your bicep, you will feel the pain where your arm meets your shoulder. Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow both occur in the elbow. If you flex your wrist back and feel pain, then you might have tennis elbow. If you flex your wrist forward, it could be golfer's elbow.

Bursitis

Another common type of repetitive motion injury is bursitis. This happens when the bursae sacs, the source of lubrication between tendon and bone, become inflamed. The most common areas where you might suffer this injury is the knee, elbow and hip. In the knee, you might experience a loss of motion and there could be redness and swelling on the lower part of the kneecap. Similar symptoms might occur in the elbow if that is where the injury is. Again, you could experience redness, swelling and trouble bending the joint. If the injury is in your hip, you could feel increased discomfort while walking or lying on the side that has the inflammation.

Tendinitis and bursitis are two of the most common types of repetitive motion injuries that you might suffer. If you experience any of the above symptoms due to repetitive motion on the job, you might be able to file a workers' compensation claim and receive the benefits you deserve.
